Description

The Portuguese Camino de Santiago goes along Portugal towards the north. We will start our trip in Porto, a beautiful city and one of the main starting points of this route. We will meet the ocean on a couple of points, cycle through wine regions and cross the border of Portugal and Spain to make the last kilometers of the arrival to Santiago. 

 

  • Day: 1 - Arrival to Porto

    The guide meets the group at the airport gate and a private transfer takes the group to
    Porto. Rest, walk around town and welcome dinner in town.

  • Day: 2 - Porto - Barcelos (54 km)

    After breakfast we will get our bikes and ride to the little village of Mosteiró. From here a more quiet countryside will
    accompany us up to our destination in Barcelos. We will stop on the way for lunch.

  • Day: 3 - Barcelos - Ponte de Lima (34 km)

    We will start cycling from the hotel today and go all the way to Ponte de Lima with a total of 34 km. If anybody wants to take the bus at any stage they can always do so. We will reach the town of Ponte de Lima with its river Lima that gives name to the town that literally translates as Lima´s Bridge. We will also organize a winery visit before dinner in a nearby wine producer where we will be able to taste some of the local wines.

  • Day: 4 - Ponte de Lima - Valenca do Minho (34 km)

    Today we reach the border with Spain and we have ahead of us 34 km of cycling on rural roads. We will have our coffee break and lunch break. At Valenca do Minho we have the River Minho and an impressive fortification overlooking the river crossing that separates Portugal from Spain.

  • Day: 5 - Valenca do Minho - Pontevedra (49 km)

    Today we start the day crossing the border into Spain by crossing the bridge over the river Minho. We will do the first few kms across the border and into Tui with its cathedral and further. We will cycle through the villages of O Porrinho and Mos, this will take us to the Fiord of Pontevedra and we will see the sea for the first time inSpain. After lunch we will cycle to Pontevedra city through lovely Galician countryside.

  • Day: 6 - Pontevedra - Padrón (36 km)

    We will cycle on rural roads up to Caldas de Reis with its tradition of Roman Baths and SPAs and then on to Padrón. At Padrón we will enjoy the local green peppers. We will explore the town and enjoy the gastronomic delights of Galicia such as the good quality fish and meat.

  • Day: 7 - Padrón - Santiago de Compostela (25 km)

    Our last day to get to Santiago de Compostela is shorter to give us time to enjoy a visit to the city. We will cycle 25 km starting with a visit to the market of Padrón full of fish counters and vegetable displays. We will reach the main square of Santiago de Compostela at the Cathedral with our bikes just in time to go to the mass of pilgrims. This is the our last night and we will organize a farewell dinner in a nice restaurant in Santiago.

  • Day: 8 - Return

    A bus will take the group straight to the Airport.

    The tour ends after breakfast. It's possible to book extra nights in Santiago.
